To help celebrate this year’s National Reptile Breeders’ Expo (NRBE), held in Daytona Beach, Fla., August 17-19, ReptileChannel is holding a special raffle, sponsored by ShipYourReptiles and the National Reptile Breeders’ Expo, in which 10 lucky turtle enthusiasts will each win an amazing spotted pond turtle (Geoclemys hamiltonii)! The turtles are being provided by Mr. NRBE himself, Wayne Hill! And not only that, ShipYourReptiles will ship the winners their turtles free of charge!
To enter the raffle, simply leave a comment at the bottom of this page—one per person—telling us you want to enter the ReptileChannel Spotted Pond Turtle Giveaway.
The deadline to enter is 12 p.m. PDT, Friday, August 31. If you’re attending the National Reptile Breeders’ Expo in Daytona, be sure to stop by the Turtle Island area and take a look at Wayne Hill’s spotted pond turtles—one of them might soon be yours! And while you’re at it, stop by the ShipYourReptiles booth and tell Robyn Markland that you’re entering the raffle and hope he’ll soon be shipping a turtle to you!
Soon after the August 31 deadline, 10 people will be chosen at random to win, and a juvenile spotted pond turtle will be on its way to them, free of charge!
Even though it may be tempting, PLEASE DO NOT ENTER THIS RAFFLE UNLESS YOU ARE CERTAIN YOU WILL BE ABLE TO PROVIDE A SPOTTED POND TURTLE WITH THE PROPER CARE SHOULD YOU WIN. The spotted pond turtle is a CITES Appendix I species and is classified as endangered. It gets fairly large and can live for more than 20 years in captivity.
